I always let out a brief roaring chuckle every time I see this in a royalty statement from a record label denying an artist their rightfully earned portion of hard-earned money:

“In case of a positive ‘Balance Carried Forward’ above 100,- euro on your statement please send an original invoice (with your international bank details), including the reference number xx for each statement, to: xxxxx”

I love how the artist who literally feeds the bloated & obese money-hungry mouths of those working at record companies always gets shafted/DP’d in the end. This is just one small insignificant example. Have these people ever heard of a simple 30 second Paypal transfer? It’s 2012! I can personally attest to being owed thousands from various labels in back royalties that I will never see due to this ridiculous clause. These philistines will always find a way to steal from others hard work in some way, shape, or form.

Word to the wise, if you’re an upcoming artist, go independent. Frankly, I truly don’t care if I ever work for one of these companies (thieves) ever again. Aside from a select few labels, you’re just a salmon inside of a vast ocean of neglected and under-appreciated artists.
